3D text using Repousse
Hi Everybody, I am trying to make a 3D text using Repousse: I select the pixels ... then 3D >Repousse > Text layer ... I then get a warning about rasterizing ... I say OK to that ... But then right after that (no matter the font type) I get the following message: "Could not complete the Text Layer command because the type layer uses a faux bold style." Does anybody know what it is that I am doing wrong? Thanks Daniel |

Hi, I've not used Repousse much but thought I'd have a look. I had exactly the same problem as you but I tried rasterize the text layer, then ctrl select the layer and go to 3d>Repousse>current slection. Again, I'm not sure what effect you were after but this might help ![]() _________________ “Art Is Never Finished, Only Abandoned.” |

Re: 3D text using Repousse
Hi Daniel, I have had this problem before. I think you will find you have on the 'Faux Bold' tab in the Character Palette. For some reason Faux Bold stays on even when you change the typeface. I can't remember how I got round it, I think I either turned it into a path or rasterised it before going into Repousse and then just treating it as a shape not type. |

Re: 3D text using Repousse
Many fonts come in several weights - Regular or Roman, Bold, Italic, and so on. If you have a piece of text and choose to Italicise it, or to make it Bold, then Photoshop will first look for the equivalent font variant that matches what you've asked for. If it can't find one, it will fake it: in the case of Bold, by thickening the outlines; in the case of Italic, by slanting the type. When you turn text into 3D, Photoshop works with the vector outlines that describe the font. Choosing a font variant that doesn't actually exist means that these outlines don't actually exist, either. That's why Repousse can't manage it. The answer is to choose a font with real Bold or Italic styles, or to take that style off the font you're using. |

Artwel, Deborah and Steve, Thanks a lot for your comments and suggestions. I am going to try a font without Italic or Bold style. |
