color change
I am at a loss attempting to change the colour of this reconstructed old banger, I thought my technique must be wrong, but it works well enough on single coloured images. Is there a different method for converting multi coloured subjects? Enlightenment would be gratefully received. Using Steve's book for CS5. Hopeful! |

James, Often do this, but maybe on subtle side for what you want. Its not easy necessarily, or at least for me. Do you have CS5 or CS4?, less destructive if make colour changes in these. Steve has chapter in his HTCIPS books for several versions on how to change colour. E.g In Steve's CS5 book see Find an replace, Colour by numbers & Brush-in colour pages 30 to 35. I tend to also use also pen tool to select. Trevor |

Re: color change
If you want to change all the colours in the car (and there are a lot) to a single colour, then check the Colorize button in the Hue/Saturation dialog. Of course, there will still be variations in brightness, but it's a start. |

If you want a dramatic but non-destructive change why don't you try Layer/New Adjustment Layer/Gradient Map and take your pick from the many different gradients available. You can mask out the bits you don't like by painting on the mask in the usual way. _________________ "The problem is knowing when to stop" |
