problem making background even
This seems like a hard one, I am trying to find a way to make the textured background in this photo even colored and text sharper , I tried Shadow Highlight but doesn't do it. I tried selecting and inversing but no success with that either.

Also the actual image is a tiff and too large to send. If anyone wants to tackle it, I can send it. So frustrating!.
TIA

Hi Jenn
I assume we're looking at a flattened image? Colour range could be an option to select the text.

Unless you have access to the individual layers, I think you're going to have real problems with this one. Nick's suggestion of Colour Range is a good one - and you could also try looking at the individual channels.

Is this a scan of an album cover? If so, it's likely there will be a lot of colour noise in that background, which is going to make it harder as well.

Perhaps post a crop of a representative area so we can try it out?
