Marquee
Hi All, Iam just back from summer's holiday and it feels like my brain got left back. Anyways can't figure out how to duplicate a selection marquee and then move the two identical marquees independently of each other. Surely there must be a simple way to do this. Thank You, Martti |

Hi Martti, Perhaps you could supply a screenshot of what you are trying to do? |

Re: Marquee
Hi Martti, Not totally certain I understand your request but it might be addressed by setting up two (or more) alpha channels. You can move these around independently by selecting one then the other. You can opt to have both selected at the same time and move both at the same time but I am not aware of any way that you can have two separate selections open simultaneously and move them around simultaneously ![]() Gordon _________________ If at first you don't succeed then skydiving is not for you. |

Re: Marquee
Hi Martti I'm assuming you are working on a background layer. Drag your selection using the marquee tool and then press CTRL J to place the selected area onto a new layer (layer 1). Press CTRL J again and the selection layer will be copied to Layer 2. You can then move these around as you wish. Hope this helps. Nick |

Re: Marquee
Thank you all for the replies, Here´s my somewhat erratic recipe: 1) make a selection marquee 2) save it as a path1 3) duplicate to path2 4) select either path with path selection tool 5) move the path to the desired position 6) do the same (4&5 above) to the other path 7) copy the paths 1&2 to path3 ![]() So now you have placed two identical marquees in desired positions. Any practical use for this - do not know. /Martti ![]() |

Re: Marquee
Wouldn't it be easier simply to draw two paths in the first place? |

Re: Marquee
Hi Martti I've never been too keen on saving selections as paths and then creating selections from them as characteristics of the shape do seem to change, but I do convert paths to selections when making complex cut-outs. The steps you have taken do seem complex to achieve a relatively simple operation. Try this:- - make selection - go to Select / save selection and this will create a new channel. - then go to Select / Load selection and the ants will appear. - go to Select / transform selection and a bounding box will appear. You can then move the selection to wherever you want. The channel will not be affected and you can go back and load it as many times as you like. I would suggest you save an unfeathered selection and make any adjustments after it's loaded. Or do what I suggested earlier and once the first layer is created, CTRL click on its thumbnail to create a selection, which you can then move as mentioned above. |
