how to create stencil templates?
Hi,

Just got the PS6 s/w this morning and am wondering if anyone here knows of a way to design stenciling templates whether from a simple picture or from scratch?

I have had a quick look but cant find any hints or tutorials but will keep searching as I know Google is my friend . The kind of thing I am looking to do is shown in the attachment.

Thanks for any help or advice given and I am sure I will be back with some more stupid questions

Re: how to create stencil templates?
Hi Graham,

Looking at the example that you have shown you might want to consider using Illustrator instead of Photoshop. This is the kind of thing that Illustrator excels at as it is vector-based and can be infinitely scaled. You can do this in Photoshop with the pen tool but the ride is more pleasant in Illustrator. The downside, of course, is the learning curve with another piece of software.

Any artwork created can be opened in Photoshop for further editing at any resolution. And don't forget to make it a smart object!

Googling 'Illustrator Tutorials' will bring up a wealth of info.

There are not as many books devoted to Illustrator but I can recommend the 'Wow' series.
