Image too bright
Hello, I would like to correct the top of this image. I tried different techniques, but I'm not satisfied. What is the best way to correct this? Thank you. ![]() |

Hi François, I tried a couple of ideas, including, as I'm sure you have, a Curves Adjustment Layer and also using a duplicate layer set to Multiply; actually, I used a few layers for this. Both techniques suggested that the highlights are almost completely blown out with very little image detail being left. Your original might provide a better starting point. If your original was shot in RAW you might stand a better chance working on that. You can get a recovered image from these techniques but it's not one that I would want to frame and hang on my wall. Also, try the Shadows/Highlights adjustment, setting Shadows to 0 and Highlights anything up to 100%. Didn't work particularly well on this jpeg, but it might on your original. |

Re: Image too bright
I tried RAW, which can open on a jpeg. Really the best chance is to have a RAW file, not Jpeg. Jpeg only 8 bits per channel raw more and avoid the jpeg algorithms to save space, e.g. 14bits from the sensor, which gives scope to recover subtle details and no jpeg algorithms to compress, but jpeg algorithms, and the camera mode, really-really great when fit for user purpose. Again, its information, Shannon's law. Anyway, this the best I could do, subject to not knowing your subject interest. ![]() |

Re: Image too bright
Thank you to everyone. My camera does not make raw (bridge canon S5IS). I tried camera raw and Shadows/Highlights adjustment and I got the same result which resembles the image jota posted. Thank you again |
