Re: Engraving
I covered creating engravings as a chapter in my book Art & Design in Photoshop, and as far as I know that technique would apply equally well to Elements. But that really detailed how to turn photographs of people into engravings; this is a different matter altogether. This forum is really for Photoshop, rather than Photoshop Elements, but someone here may be able to come up with a solution! Any takers? |

Re: Engraving
Hi Jo, I don't actually use Elements so cannot help directlybut this is how I created the image in Photoshop. This might give you an idea of how to tackle it in Elements. Firstly I made the image into a layer and then desaturated it. Then (Photoshop) I used Filter>Styliise>Find Edges. Using Image>Adjustments>Levels I tweaked the white level pointer to get rid of (or keep) some of the extraneous detailing until it looked 'right'. Then I selected all the white and deleted it, leaving me with just a set of black lines in the shape of the castle. Then I dropped in a brass-coloured background. Bevel & Emboss doesn't really work in this size of image but might be ok with the original. To extend the capabilities of Elements you might like to have a look at Elements XXL from the Plug-in Site. I doesn't cost much and it makes Elements more like Photoshop. If you are on a MAC there should be a MAC version available very shortly. You could, of course, post a message on the How to Cheat in Photoshop Elements website and ask there. Hope some of this helps.
