Photoshop Error messages
Hi, I have had this problem once before (after fiddling with scratchdisk settings) and I found the solution, possibly even on here, but have completely forgotten what that solution was!

I have the problem where I load up Photoshop CS5.1 Windows, it fails to open and gives these two messages.

I can open Photoshop by selecting 'Run as Administrator' but this isn't ideal, any help would be appreciated . thanks!

This is a Windows issue, I think. Out of my field of knowledge!

Pity I don't know the answer to your problem, because CS5.1 is in my opinion the fastest, most reliable and most stabilized version in Windows (7).

Maybe a solution is to re-install Photoshop to another directory, for instance Program Files\PS501 (64 bits) or Program Files (x86)\PS501 (32 bits).

A 'solution' is the following: start PS with a shortcut. In the Properties of this shortcut click on the button 'Advanced' and check 'As administrator'...

Re: Photoshop Error messages
I've never seen this before from PC. I agree with Sjef and use same versions 7 and 5.1.

I doubt this will help very much, but for performance you should have separate disk drive for the scratch disk from your main drive. So what I am saying is if you configured this so and the second hard disk or partition is not available it could(?) lead to this error. Back up your disk, mine went really sick & died. (That is why had to buy Mac but still have Windows 7). At the same time if you have a second hard drive in preferences you could nominate that as the scratch disk
