Cropping an animated gif
I have a fairly large animated gif that needs the unused portions (right and left sides) cropped off, reducing the width as much as possible. Is there a way to do this in Photoshop CS3 ? The image is posted here: http://mysite.verizon.net/vze1m6wp/page2.htm Thanks! John |

Re: Cropping an animated gif
Hi John. Yes, you can work with animated gifs in CS3. It seems that Adobe forgot to put the menu item for gifs, but it will work fine. To open your animated gif go to File > Import > Video Frames to Layers. You will not see Gifs as a valid file type, but enter *.gif in the dialogue anyway. You will now see your animated gifs, and you can import them. It will separate the frames into layers, just like it used to in 7 or CS2. Go ahead and make any changes that you want, such as cropping or whatever. To Save, choose Save for Web and Devices. Save as a gif, and the animation will be preserved. I hope that this helps. Dave. |

I too must thank you for this great tip, Dave. Now I can finally uninstall CS2. |
