Lighting/Shading
Hello, Im a bit unsure about Beckhams brightness here, it doesnt sit well with the rest of the shading for me, Ive played with curves but its not really working.

Also I hope to have people actually in the stadium!! But not sure as of yet how to achieve this. Any ideas or other comments? Thanks in advance!

The ligting seems OK (not that I'm an expert), it fits with the rest of the scene.

For the crowds, try google images for a generic crowd shot or 2 and cut and duplicate them, resize and blur (untested)

Great pun BTW

Thanks for the info on the crowd, yeah its just when youre staring at the same image for hours I cant judge sometimes on light/shading. Im slightly worried Saddam looks a bit 2D. Will try the crowd idea tomorrow

Re: Lighting/Shading
I think Beckham's shading isn't the problem here, the stadium is flooded with light therefore it's actually Sadam Hussein's shading that looks a bit flat. The highlights on Beckham are coming from his right and the same is true for Saddam, however because he is facing us and Beckham has his back to us then the lighting for Saddam should be coming from his left.

Try adding some dodge to his left side (right as we view it) to lighten that side and add some burn to his right hand side and then increase the brighten & contrast to match Beckham.

As for the crowd, as Trinity said, a generic Wembly crowd shot from Google to replace the empty stadium you might have to mask out the goal posts so they appear in front of the crowd and use dodge & burn to simulate a net between the posts.

Brilliant concept and funny image though

Great idea! You know, with jokes like this I really wouldn't worry about the finish. It's a cartoon, not an illustration, so I don't think it matters if it looks like one! Once you allow for the fact that we need Saddam's face big enough to recognise, and that we want a readable newspaper on the pitch, the potential realism takes a back seat anyway.

Maiden, I think it's up to you to devise a way of generating crowd scenes using Photoshop filters. Combination of Pointillize, Glur and Displace, perhaps? If you can do wood, surely you can have a crack at this! And what the hell are you doing sitting at your computer at 6.45 in the morning???

That sounds like a challenge
As for the 6.45 am that's when I was getting ready to go to work - had a few moments on the computer to wake me up.

Ever tried an alarm clock? And what kind of work do you do that involves having to get up at 6.45 in the morning?

I'm one of Social Services' finest Home Carers, or at least that's what I tell myself - haha

I have to get up early enough to wake other people up, who then grumble at me for getting them out of bed at such an unearthly hour.

I'd rather be doing a job involving computers and design, but when the bills and mortgage have to be paid you have to take what's available.

I have tried an alarm clock but so far I can't get Adobe Photoshop to run on one - teehee

Crikey - you know your way around Photoshop, you have a fearsome sense of humour, and you're a saint during working hours. Are you sure you're just one person, and not a syndicate?

I wish I was a syndicate, I would delegate the work load and sit back in a comfy chair all day watching myselves work - haha
