I think you'd better to use "Eye candy 5" or "Flaming Pear". |

The metal skin can be made easy enough by making a selection of the skin area - desaturating and applying one of Steve's stepped Curves as illustrated in the book. Fire hair would be trickier but maybe a Gradient Map with some distortion would work. 
The fire hair isn't working too great but I'm sure with some more work it could be improved. |
