Re: How???
Possible - yes, just about. But if you're looking for a step-by-step tutorial you'll have to look pretty damn hard!

How???
Hello Tomasz,

There are quite a few books out there that focus purely on digital painting. I have one of them (which I bought together with an Intuos tablet a couple of months ago):

Digital Painting Techniques: Practical Techniques of Digital Art Masters (Masters Collection)

Amazon web site:
http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Painting-Techniques-Practical-Collection/dp/0240521749/ref=pd_sim_b_10

The book has a dedicated chapter for painting sci-fi and fantasy figures. And in that chapter there is a tutorial about painting armours; chapter 7 page 198.

There is also an eBook from the same publisher (3DTotal) http://www.3dtotal.com (40 pages) that covers painting of armours as its main subject. The name of the eBook is naturally Painting Armour!

Re: How???
Steve,

No, not really tutorial but if there are basic techniques to produce this type of art.As first, I am not sure about if to do it by painting, photo -montage or 3d modelling. Second, are tools and if Photoshop itself is right choice or shall I look for help wide across Creative Suite, Illustrator etc.

How???
Tomasz, you are welcome. I guess the techniques you are looking for are described in that eBook. It costs about 9 Pounds.
As you can see below the platforms that are used are Photoshop and Painter.

Re: How???
Tomasz,

You are welcome. And one last thing: you can get quite realistic renders like the image below from 3D modeling SW (this one from 3D Max). But you need some postwork in PS to get the mysterious look of your example image.

Re: How???
Daniel,
This is great work and very realistic. In my option 3d modelling is not good idea.My processor and graphic card is not a newest one. That's why I gave up video editing too.Rendering time kill my enthusiastic mode. I know 3d Max or Z Brush looks amazing.I try to paint it digital then. First I need to design what it be and bring it on, I just need to back to the future to second world war century as well. Will post it as soon as can.

Ps.
Regarding to the last picture you posted. Is everything modelled 3d and then just texturaized and lightened in PS, right???

Re: How???
Tomasz,

I am looking forward to see the result of your work ...

I think the artistic feel of a hand made drawing can never be compared with or replaced by a 3D render.

As for this render, all textures were already added in 3DMax. And that's
where all properties of the textures (such as reflection, refraction etc) were added.

Good luck

Re: How???
You are welcome Tomasz. On Saturday I went to a digital art exhibition arranged by Tama Art University here in Tokyo. Lots of interesting art work ...

In one of the booths, art students were just sitting and painting, and I actually thought about you, because many of them were painting Japanese fantasy figures that resembled your Nazi soldier!

This is very nice Tomasz. I am looking forward to see the final image. Unfortunately I don't know anything about paintball gun images or models (although I love paintball ).
