erasing outside selection?
This has never happened before!
Made a selection, whacked a layer mask on it... and it's partly erasing outside the selection.
Any ideas how to fix it?

Can you be more specific? "Partly erasing" sounds like the area outside the selection is darker than pure white. Is this possible?

As always, a screen grab would help.

I've fixed it and now I can't recreate it.
The only thing that's different about this selection is that I created it using channels with the threshold tool. Then I put a layer mask on the layer, then used a brush at 100% opacity (and black) to paint out the image within the selection.
It partly removed the image within the selection (as if the brush was set at say 70%, AND it also removed the image outside the selection (as if the brush was set at 10%).
In the end, I went through the whole process again... and it was fine!
Very odd!

Hate those buggers - especially when they turn up while I'm teaching!
