I'm with Maiden on the "get a used camera until you really know what you want". The following link brings you to a shot that I've done for my local photo club. I have a D70 (the fifth one that was sold in Canada!) and I used a 70-300 Sigma zoom (that has a macro feature) that goes for around 300$... The thing with digital cameras is that you have a little screen to help you figure out if you're getting close...

Very nice photo. I have a Canon 180mm macro lens and find that even shut right down the DOF is minimal. I don't know how you managed to get that dragon fly so good. They are notorious for never keeping still I guess it was a very bright day. We get nothing that exotic round these parts.

I am looking forward to the new feature in CS4 where you can take several images focussing at different distances and it will combine them making one completely sharp image. It'll be a boon for macro.
