Heads you lose!
First post for crit...

Last year a friend spoke of his unfulfillable wish to have had all his bosses to dinner to thank them for their support throughout his working life. He showed me a picture of a dinner at which one of his bosses attended. This gave me the idea to get whatever pictures there were of the others and use them. All were prints and one was a 4x3 pop print in B&W. The attached was what I produced for him. Eight of the heads were replaced.

Thoughts, crits....

Ted

Really nice effort Eggbox. The only thing I reckon may need looking at is that I think you may have scaled the heads of the three gents at the back down a little to much and also 1 or 2 of the heads may just need a little contrast and saturation adjustment to match. But I reckon overall real nice.

Fantastic job, Ted! The colour matching is really good, and the angles and blending all work very well. But Chris is right: those three heads at the back are just too small. And the man with red hair on the right is perhaps a little too red - or maybe his hair is just that colour.

All in all, though, it's a very accomplished montage. Fitting heads onto bodies twisted round like that is a tricky task, and you've made it look as natural as possible.

Welcome to the forum!

Steve

Re: Heads you lose!
Thanks Chris and Steve for your kind comments. I would add that when scaling the heads I did reduce their opacity and fitted them to the size of the original heads to fit their bodies. I agree with the red haired man but I think I was concerned more with his skin tone. The head of No5 from the left is in fact slightly larger than the original! These all sounds like excuses but when I did it I didn't have the benefit of either the book or this forum. So ... which two heads belong to their bodies?

I'm banking on these 2 being the original heads!

Hmm not sure why my arrows didn't show up. Oh well I think its the guy far left with tache holding wine glass high and the guy immediately to the left of the red head.

Chris, do you mean 1 and 8? If so one of them is correct.

Crikey, I would have said 10,8,7 & 6 were real too which proves you've done an excellent job.

Thanks for your kind comment Maiden. When my friend handed over a 10x8 print to number 10 in the picture he commented that he didn't remember the dinner! It was a lot of fun doing it and I learned a lot too.

I looked at it, thinking it was a proper photograph with them all in it for real!

Good job Ted!
