Just joined.

Hi.......
Just joined yesterday. I live in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia. I hope I'm not too much out of my league here.........well obviously I am, but I'm hoping to learn and do the best I can at my level. I don't actually have Photoshop, just Elements, and I've only been doing that for a few months, but love it. I love a challenge so I'm hoping that being here will give me a leg up on the learning curve. Just having Elements......does that put me at a disadvantage before I even start?

Welcome to the forum, Robyn. There is no league to be out of. The forum is here for people to share ideas, knowledge and generally have a bit of a chat.

A lot of people here are using Elements so don't be put off. It's a powerful and versatile program and can achieve great results. Some of the techniques used may not be possible but there are many ways to achieve results in image manipulation.

Hello Robyn and welcome to the forum. I too began with Elements (version 1) and worked up to PS7. Having Steve's book and joining this forum and participated in the Friday Challenge since Christmas has enabled me to improve my PS and 'cheating' techniques by leaps and bounds. Looking at other's pictures has intrigued and inspired me. I hope it will do the same for you.

I've got Elements 3 at the moment. Re the full Photoshop.....I often see different versions referred to. How many are there?

Photoshop CS2 is the latest version - all the others are just old ones.

There are many great features in the full version, but you can do great work with just Elements!

I've just this minute ordered your book, I'm considering buying a new camera......so it's all go.
Re the Friday challenge............I hope you go easy on beginners...........I'd never even heard of Photoshop until about 5 months ago!
