Its certainly a challenging process but gosh its satisfying once you've finished. This particular piece took me about 1.5 hours.

I don't know if it's any help to you, but I've just downloaded a piece of software that cost about £30. It's a plug in that reduces noise in a photo. I find noise the hardest thing to deal with without softening the photo too much. If you want a look, it's here ...
