Background cleanup
In the last challenge, "Plastic Horses", the image with the creek in the woods and the interested but well-fed panther, can we agree that the left side of the frame looks like a bad haircut? It nagged at me all week until I had to fix it. I am enclosing before and after shots. When all else fails, cut and paste. ![]() |

Re: Background cleanup
Brewell, agreed on above point, the river does look slightly more like a bit of a swamp and certainly some foreground interest wouldnt have gone amiss. The roots and dead leaves look unsightly if you dont mind me saying so, i would have been tempted to cover them up with some nicer looking foliage rather than removing the blown fern leaves. In my humble opinion that is ![]() |

Re: Background cleanup
Progenic, Thanks for the comments. Scruffiness on the edge of chaos is a part of the North Florida landscape that I would like to convey in an entertaining manner. I know probably that this exercise is trivial, but the real point is that nagging feeling I had that gave me no peace until I did something. Anybody else experience that, or is it the blind enthusiasm of a newcomer? |

Re: Background cleanup
Brewell I dont think the exercise is trivial at all and if it was bugging you then you rightly did what you needed to do. I get the same feeling with images all the time, and end up playing around with them, then a bit more until usually i end up messing the whole thing up. But enthusiasm is a great thing and thats what drives you to learn more and hone your skills further. continue with the chaos ![]() |

I think we have all submitted images at some point where we realized they could have been better. Making an effort to improve on an image shows you take pride in your work. Keep your standards high and it will show in your final product. On this site, you don't have to be the best as long as you do YOUR best. That is what should be important. Learning is a process, not an event! |
