Nice poster but I have a few thoughts on your mirror image of the soldiers.

I would remove the lanyard from one of the soldiers. I am sure they would only wear one over one shoulder. Also the buckle on the hats, I would remove one of them too. I would try a few more things to remove the obvious symmetry i.e. the shirt collar, the colour of the soldiers skin.

Just my opinion

Cheers Paul.
I think you're right - interesting idea on changing the soldiers' skin colour.

Re: The Winslow Boy
Hi Chris,

I don't want to throw a spanner in your works but 'The Winslow Boy' was based on a true story about a young naval cadet who was accused of stealing a postal order at the Royal Navy Academy in Osbourne before the First World War. Your soldiers appear to be dressed in US military uniforms. If the play is going to be changed to reflect a US story instead then you ought to replace the Union Flag.

Otherwise the basic concept seems good.

Hi Gordon
I can't find any shots of British military, so they'll just have to do I'm afraid! (unless you know of some shots, of course)

Re: The Winslow Boy
Hi Chris,

Try the Imperial War Museum and also the Naval College at Dartmouth itself. Then there is The Royal Navy Museum which is part of The National Museum.

Re: The Winslow Boy
Hi Gordon
Couldn't find the shots I wanted, so made sailor hats in PS and added some rain macs. Does this pass muster, do you think?

Re: The Winslow Boy
Yes, that's looking much more convincing. Although I'd be tempted to put the original caps back on - perhaps with white tops? Or, given the theme of the play, perhaps red military police caps?

That's great Chris. I like the way the red is in the hats, it takes your eye to the title (as usual a great suggestion by Steve)! Hebden Bridge have got an excellent poster designer.

Thanks Deborah.
I agree, I think the colour scheme of the whole thing ties together with the red caps. And thanks for the compliment - can never have too many!
