CD Jewel Case/CD - 100% Photoshop
I created this back in 2006. I had a CD Jewel case on my desk and for fun I wanted to see if I can create that using Photoshop. So here is my result. 100% Photoshop.

Let me know what you think. Good or bad.

It's the texture contrast that really makes this work: the rough plastic on the inside of the case, the smooth shine on the CD itself. Fantastic.

It looks too much like a photograph. Joking aside, this is just perfect; the textures, the play with light, the kind of out of focus details. Just perfect.

Re: CD Jewel Case/CD - 100% Photoshop
I always thought cheating in Photoshop was to make people believe something was actually a real photo when it's not, rather than just cobbling together unconvincing montages. The CD and case truly look real to me.

Your image is amazing as are your observational skills. I think subtlety is the key here. The rainbow effect can hardly be seen but it's enough to make you believe that is a real CD in the case.

How long did it take you?

I'm glad you all liked it and thanks for the comments. The hardest part was creating the clear plastic lid. I had trouble trying to make it look convincing.

Paul, I can't remember how long it took me to create this, but I did have several slightly different versions for this project. What took me some time to do is trying to find a font that has a DVD or CD logos and fonts that you see in the lower left, top right corners, and left side of the cd.

Would be able to do it again, and record it in the same time, so we can watch the video.

Watch to Learn, I think that should make it an excellent Tutorial.

Hope you can do it.

Hi Luis,

Could you help me to create the CD case and CD? I really like your project. It's so nice. Last time, you just said" you use the layer style as bevel and Emboss and satin, etc..." but, I don't know exactly how much I can apply on it For example : when I apply bevel and emboss and I don't know how much for depth and size................ Luis, could you take a little time to show me by email My email is honghatvo@yahoo.com. Thanks in advance.

Take care
Ha

Thanks Steve. Glad you liked It.

Emad and Ha Vo,

I will create a Video Tutorial on creating the CD so you can see the steps. However, I will not show how to create the Case at this time. I will post the tutorial in the Reader's Tutorials section. So be on the look out for it. I hope to have the tutorial done next week. If I get it done early, I will post it.
