A first example for you all!
Hi guys,

just wanted to show you all a work that I am thouroughly proud of.

first off I need to give a little back story. I am REALLY into my mangas an animes, to the point where I have decided that I want a related tattoo. Being a designer of course I had to go ahead and come up with the composition myself. However, I didn't want just any old tattoo or collection of tattoos dotted around, I decided if I was to get my arm tattooed it would need to be my whole arm in one design (obviously not in one sitting.. oh the pain) so I have set up my savings account (cos tattoos are expensive) and recently completed my design. I like to think it's a very clear design and represents everything I appreciate about this 'alternative oriental art form' but all I'd like from you guys is opinions on the design itself. I provide a photobucket link purely because it would be harsh to upload a picture of this scale onto your servers here. anyway please click through and let me know what you think:

enjoy

That is brilliant, I love it!
Did you draw and colour those from scratch, or use existing images and group them together? It's very cool!
Welcome to the forum, hope to see lots of your work on here
(Provided you can still work your arm after all that needle work )

Re: A first example for you all!
Anna, the symbols vaguely mean something along the lines of;

"Fear, rage, love and anger are the evolution of epic power" <-- read that phrase aloud with this face on then you'll get the gist. an appropriate voice alteration of your choosing also helps haha

I say 'along the lines of' purely because i don't know japanese and so took the keywords from a dictionary and put them down in the appropriate order (basically it probably reads "fear rage love anger evolution epic power")

I did not draw the characters as such, I screen grabbed them from DVDs as I could not find the right characters in the right poses online (i was being picky) but then obviously had to re work them and recolour them.. think of it as a drastic touch up, to get them cleaned up again. the black squiggle i did myself and in a small area then just duped the layer and manipulated it in different areas and different angles, the star balls were 100% drawn (easy for most levels of experience) and the chinese symbols were literally magic wanded out of an online dictionary, then level adjusted into full white and stroked in 4pt black.

I'm glad to see that feedback comes quickly and constructively on here. look forward to sharing with you all.

also one more point, it may be a loooong time before this ever ends up on my arm, the estimate was over £2000 (I live in Jersey (CI UK) everything costs more here) so theres no worrys about the pain yet lep!!

OUCH.
I wanted to get Iron Maiden's 'Fear of the Dark' album cover done on my back. Until I got quoted a price. I settled for scanning the record sleeve and blu-tacking it to the wall instead.
You've probably been inked before then, if you're into it that much?

You'll have to post us a pic when you get it done eventually!

Just try to make sure it's not one of you sobbing with the pain, they'd have to Photoshop it.

Best of luck with it!

If I was going to have that tattooed on my body for the next 60 years I'd be sure to get it translated properly.

You seem unsure if it's Japanese or Chinese.

The individual symbols might on there own mean "fear rage love anger evolution epic power" but could mean anything when strung together. It could quite easily translate as "scared mad sexy displeasure monkey book weakness".
