Jet powered fly swat
This is work-in-progress with a little way to go before it's finished. It's all very silly and it's probably best that you don't ask why, but I am working on this Jet-Powered Fly-swat. The modelling was done in Cinema 4D with the aircraft details added in Photoshop.

Of course I still have to add a pilot which will probably be done using Poser for the body and, probably, my own head wearing a fighter pilot's 'bone-dome'. Details still have to be added to the farthest aircraft with a few more also to be added to the nearest such as a company logo in place of RAF roundels.

I will be using a different background from the one shown here.

Any comments - other than the obvious one about why anyone should want a Jet-Powered Fly-swat?

Hi Steve,
Yes I see what you mean. They don't look right. The one on the top of the fuselage is supposed to be an anti-collision light and the one on the wing-tip is the port navigation light. A little more work required there I think.

Is this the ultimate undoing of flies?

And probably one of the truest!!

Sorry Gordon, only joking!

Great invention - have you patented it yet? And are the flies really that big in your neck of the woods?

Re: Jet powered fly swat
I've been working away at this project over the Christmas hols and this is where I've arrived at.

Any comments appreciated

For the more curious amongst us it's a spoof interceptor destined for one of a series of air safety posters to bring to the attention of light aircraft pilots the problem of entering controlled airspace without approval. It should eventually be seen in flying clubs around the UK and Europe.

Hi Gordon and a happy 2009 to you too.

The image is great and the sky has improved immensely on the original version. Some comments:

I would show the planes along with their prey and a little Cessna or Piper in the space top left may add something, or was the plan to put text there?

I would be inclined to add a dimension of speed via motion blur to both aircraft - very subtle though.

The 'Anti infringement' text should be set back slightly. At the present location it does not sit confortably with the contours of the engine.

Nick
