the old boat
Found a picture of an old boat and decided to try and do an hommage to Turner,as I had been looking at some of his paintings today and his work was in my head....
So found some other pictures of rocks, water, took some of the clouds myself and composited the lot.
After a lot of experimenting I came up with this......

Re: the old boat
Beautiful tones and composition. One to go on the wall I'd suggest.

Stefan I really love what you've done in that pic. It looks to me like that boat was always there! I'm really impressed, well done!

Re: the old boat
Thanks everyone for your nice words and comments.
Yeah Steve, the hills are one of these things I experimented with...lighter, more haze, less haze, darker...but I needed to give that image a rest as it was getting late and sometimes you just need to get away from it and look at it again in the cold light of day. There's a lot that could use some tweaking and I'll get to that.
But this was really an exercise in lighting for me as I haven't done it much and wanted to see for myself if I could do it

Re: the old boat
That is a lovely composition. It turns an ordinary photo into a masterpiece. The boat seems perfect for the location.

The lighting on the boat doesn't suit the lighting in your composition though. The original boat is brightly lit from the left. In your final image the sun is behind, but there is a bright light shining on the orange wheelhouse which is coming from the left/front.

I think it would good on any wall.

Re: the old boat
I know Paul ..........it's far from perfect...but let's just call it bounce light from an imaginary object in front of the boat

Hi Stefan
I know I've come a little late to this discussion BUT this is such a potentially great montage I had to comment.

Just do as Paul says, and change the lighting on the boat with a little bit of dodge tool to darken it. It's such a great composition it deserves a little more twiddling. THEN stick it on the wall!

It's 99% there - make it 100!

Stefan brilliant. I would love to learn some of the techniques you used. Do you feel like a tutorial?
