Lighthouse
I thought that the lighthouse could use some "cheating"/ Your comments and input are most welcome. Is it convincing?

Re: Lighthouse
Not bad, but I think it could use a little more work. What I think is missing is the light that is making the light rays.

I hope you don't mind if I had a go at this. Here is what I did.

1. I first created some clouds, distorted , and change the blend mode to Color Burn.

2. Then I made a duplicate of the lighthouse layer and cut out the lighthouse and put that above the cloud layer.

3. Next I made a new layer and created the lightrays using the Rectangular Marquee Tool and fill it with white. Then I distorted it. I then change the blend mode to Color Dodge and lowered the Fill to 70%. I aslo added a Gaussian Blur.

4. I then created an Pattern Adjustment layer (Clouds - found in the Patterns Preset). Set the scale to 545. Group this layer with the Iightrays layer. Change the blend mode to Linear Burn or try something that looks good.

5. The last step is that I create a new layer and filled it with black. Then I added the lensflare filter. Make sure the flare is in center of your document first. Once that is done, just move the layer to the lighthouse and change the blend mode to Screen.
