Lock puzzle !!
These locks are on a farm gate at the Horseshoe Pass in North Wales,I have been told that each lock has a seperate 'key holder',only one lock has to be opened for the pin to be removed and the sliding latch is then able to be opened, then the gate is open !! The round part of the lock mechanism rotates even when all the locks are locked. Cheers Neale |

Neale, what stops a person from just jumping over the fence? ![]() ![]() _________________ Wicked Witch of the West: I'm melting! I'm melting! |

Re: Lock puzzle !!
Intriguing lock! But why didn't they just use one lock, and have eight keys cut? This does seem a rather long-winded solution! |

Re: Lock puzzle !!
Heath Robertson springs to mind. I presume it's better to have it like this than 8 keys to one padlock. If one keyholder is no longer permitted access, then their padlock can be removed. If they had a common key they might keep it or have it copied and still have access. It would mean changing the lock and cutting 8 more keys to be sure it was secure again. I'd like to see a photo of the farmer looking at the gate scratching his head as he tries to offer a ninth person access ![]() |
