Swedish panorama using Autopano
This is a combination of 6 images covering around 200 degrees stitched together using Autopano. It shows the Swedish Göta Canal company’s m/s JUNO about to transit the last of the 7 locks at Berg near Linköping, Sweden. During the summer months this and two other similar boats take 4 days to cruise this beautiful canal from Göteborg to Stockholm . Final tweaking was done, of course, in Photoshop. ![]() _________________ The meek shall inherit the Earth if that's ok with the rest of you. |

Very pretty! There's something weird about the degree of distortions this technique produces, however. I'm trying (and failing) to imagine that boat making the 90 degree turn straight after the lock... |

Re: Swedish panorama using Autopano
Yes I agree. Of course the reason is due entirely to the perspective. With an image taken this close to a straight line, which is what the canal and bank were, you get the same effect as with a fish-eye lens. As a sense of reality it doesn't work but as an interesting shot I feel it has its merits. I suppose that if I had waited for the boat to move into the next section of the lock and then took the images it would then have bent itself by 90 degrees and would have fitted the lock perfectly. We sailed on this boat and had a beautiful, if somewhat cramped (!), cruise along the canal for 4 days. Enjoy your holiday. _________________ If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you ever tried. |

Re: Swedish panorama using Autopano
Hi Chris, Yes it is MAC compatible. It renders panoramas very quickly indeed and is dead easy to use. Below are a couple of posts I made a few weeks ago that used Autopano with an infra red camera:- http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s93/GKBphoto/Wakehurstplace2image5d.jpg or a slightly different view http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s93/GKBphoto/Wakehurstplace2image2a.jpg These two images cover approximately 180 degrees and consist of around 21 images stitched together.
