Just playing..
I have thought of this image for some time. It is not original as I have seen this concept before but can't remember when or where. I found the image of the woman over the weekend from AbsolutVision (http://www.absolutvision.com/ ) and the rest is recent history. Thoughts and comments please. Nice one, made me think of this one that I saw awhile ago http://www.pxleyes.com/images/contests/forest-bridge/fullsize/Under-the-Bridge-4cb3753e098d5_hires.jpg ![]() _________________ Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize. |

Re: Just playing..
Brilliant Ted, love both the idea and the execution. Some thoughts though. I think that the woman is too small in relation to the shop front to the right and behind her even though she is slightly bent and pulling. At the moment she's only the same size as the tall sack to her left. Also her left foot is a bit small. If I'm being picky (you did ask), I think the fallen pots at the front would scatter bits of earth slightly wider (like a fan possibly) at the front of them, or at least the one at the very front. The pot flying off the shelf might be better if it was not so blurred, perhaps some motion blur only and it also seems a little big compared to the others. (Or is it a bucket?) Otherwise I have to say that the way you have bent the shop fronts is brilliant and the shadows look really good too. Loads of ideas for the rest of us photoshoppers to emulate from both you and Vibeke. |

Glorious image, Ted. I love the distortion - Image Warp really does have its uses, doesn't it? Not sure I agree with Sophie about the size of the woman, though. I think you've got her just right. Sophie, imagine her standing upright: she'd only just fit through the doorway behind her. |

Re: Just playing..
In music we all hear a note differently so, an instrument that sounds In-Tune to one can sound out of tune to another. A note that sounds flat can sound sharp to another. Apparently colour is the same e.g one colour red looks different to each individual - maybe this is why Pantone became a standard - I'm sure that the more experienced of you out there can put me right. This got me thinking about Ted's image which I think it is great and very clever. Now the last thing I want to do is to start disagreeing with an obvious genius in the art (as far as I am concerned anyway) but in this case, although what Steve says make absolute sense technically, I can't help 'seeing' that the girl is too small! I can't explain it because I am not experienced enough, but when I look at it my brain tells me the girl is is slightly too small, especially as she is nearer to the camera than the shop! Have to agree with Sophie, sorry! ![]() _________________ Mark Goodwin If you do what you have always done, you'll get what you've always got! |

Re: Just playing..
Thank you all for your thoughts and comments. keep them coming. I spent some time pondering on the size of the woman and, indeed, tried a few alternatives but they seemed, to me, certainly too small or too large. I finally looked at the relationship between her and the bollard which I estimated to be about hip height and settled on that. I'll accept your thought Sophie of the 'fan' like spread of the spilt soil but the falling flower pot has only motion blur. Anything else just didn't work. Oh, and her feet do look small because her shoes have very long toes. ![]() Ted |
