Honest Opinions
Hello all, have been trying something different and I want honest opinions - is it crap, or not? And how can I improve it - aside from dumping it in the trash. ![]() |

Re: Honest Opinions
Honestly? It's rather beautiful. I love the texture and delicate shading in the beak, head, neck and legs, and I like the stylised loose feathers on the body. Despite the lack of individual feathers, the shading on the chest works really well. It's the right side of the bird, where there's less rounded shading, that seems unfinished; and the shading on the top of the wing, where it joins the body, also seems a little flat, rather than rounded. Take your cue from the chest shading, which is perfect. Looking forward to seeing more versions of this one! A very interesting technique. |

Re: Honest Opinions
Many thanks for the comment Steve. I was happy with the beak, head neck and legs. It was the right side I wasn't sure about, and the lower feathers. Glad to get an opinion about that. I shall carry on with it at a later stage and post again when I am happy with it. |

Well, definately NOT crap! Lovely. In addition to Steve's comments, I might lighten the top of the legs where they meet the body. I'm thinking the difference in values creates some separation. Very minor thing, though..........I can see this in Hallmark stores. (That's a high-price card store in the USA.) Joey |

Great Deborah and it does look beautiful. My only critique is, and this where you might lose the image, so just ignore. You might model the bird more. I see two light sources. The shadows from the legs might reflect that, and then just below the breast - legs of the bird add shadow to integrate the lower body with the legs. Also, if on a blue background, the reflection will give a blue tint highlight Just some thoughts. I love the way it is. Trevor (I'm away for awhile) |

Very nice Deborah. I certainly wouldn't 'dump it in the trash'. Gordon _________________ You're never too old to learn something stupid. |

Re: Honest Opinions
Have been in an area with bad internet service so it is only now I can reply. Many thanks Gordon. Trevor, that is a good idea re the legs, I am going to carry on with it soon. I agree about the blue tint highlight as it is but will probably do a totally different background. |

Nice one Deborah, kind a 'rousseau' and kind a 'web graphic'. |
