That is a brilliant picture, it hits home how much destruction the tsunami caused. I keep spotting new objects as I am writing, the mountain bike and the kids tricycle on the far right of the image. Thanks Stewart, and welcome to the forum ... Yes, the magnitude of destruction was beyond any imagination, and many neighborhoods of the Sendai city were entirely washed away. Good luck with your Titanic project. It is a big challenge, but very exiting too. As Steve mentioned his book "100% Photoshop" is a must for everybody who wants to create a complete image entirely within Photoshop. |

Yes, I could not resist I have just bought it from amazon, awaiting its arrival. I really want to get stuck into photoshop and digital art, so I am sure I will make good use of the book! Also looking forward to the Friday challenges set by Steve. Thanks for the encouragement my titanic pic - yes its quite a task but its slowly coming together. Wow, this is great staff Daniel.I like the idea as I use to do wreck scuba diving.I think about make bigger canvas with water surface line and the ship on back in position with its forpick stick out of water, hmmm...? |

Tomasz, I have to admit ...  First I tried hardly to make a split underwater scene (i.e. seen at the water level so that you can see both under and over the surface), but I didn't manage to do it properly!! I am working with a shallower split image (a crocodile in a shallow water) now. If I can make it work, I will post it.

Daniel, I might be shy some times, but not really renowned for it. I just try to be careful and my thoughts are not always correct, needed, or appropriate. I do enjoy your image, especially like Steve the idea of the floating pieces on the top, great idea. Sorry folks, just some more thoughts. Ok a couple of comments, but these would destroy, really change your current clear image. Another version maybe? -Around Japan I think the sea's surface most of the time has waves, so when you look up you should see those and how they interact with the floating bodies (general sense). It will affect the light too. This is a really difficult aspect. I tried one in an FC, see if I can find the link.... its within here http://www.howtocheatinphotoshop.com/cgi-bin/simpleforum_pro.cgi?fid=06&topic_id=1273221123 or http://www.howtocheatinphotoshop.com/cgi-bin/simpleforum_files/attachments/Storm_3.jpg -I think given the sea around Japan is quite north, the type of fish maybe not appropriate? Cold waters, like Norway(?) means there is a lot of oxygen in the water, so have larger fish, and more a lot of plankton, micro organisms algae that thrive so the water is often not very clear. Not always the case though, so just a thought. -Last bit. This is horrible, but so much detritus was washed from the land, it should really clog and make a mess around/over the larger objects. Like a cereal packet, the large / dense objects can tend to sink. What a mess, but the wave action can clear some of it. -What about the radioactive contamination. It will most likely do damage as it goes up the food chain. Just to reiterate, its great the way it is and the message is Clear Have a good weekend, Trevor |

Thanks for the comments Steve. Making underwater caustics was not as easy as I thought! Without caustics, there is not that much of an under water feeling in the image. Wished I could make the effect more pronounced. Next time maybe ...

Trevor, thanks for the comments. I agree with all of your comments. I tried a version with larger waves, but then the image looked strange because if the surface was so turbulent we couldn't have that much of depth of field under the water (it would look fuzzy under the water). As for fishes I didn't have that much of choice with them (available 3D models). The same applies to the cars. I would love to use some Japanese cars ... Have a nice weekend. |
