Hello again, I miss you guys and this place!
Hello! So after several years of being busy and attending way too much college I had to stop by here. Oh how time flies! I'll graduate in less than a year. But wow, I have been exploring the forums again, and so many new members and some great old familiar faces, and I'm glad to see Steve is still giving input as well!

I hope I'll be able to come around more and catch up with everyone -- I see some very impressive works, and huge improvements!

In any case, I have a final project I'm working on for my intermediate painting class, and I was wondering if anyone had any input or suggestions on a piece I've photo shopped that I plan on painting. Any advice on useful painting techniques would be much appreciated as well! Thanks guys!

(Back story: I love philosophizing about how much martial arts and fine arts are intertwined. They're both far more mental than the average onlooker would guess. One involves more intricate and relaxed movements while the other involves broad yet extremely coordinated movements, but both set of movements call upon the mind's eye. Though the art is more important than any specific message; I am trying to depict that art comes from within and can be awakened in forms that many may not perceive at first. However, there is this sense of awe that comes from feeling how the artistic mind manifests in unexpected ways -- one being the graceful movements which culminate intensely to create a battle between bodies and minds.)

This is the original source picture I took:

Good to see you back! It's been a long time.

I like the idea of this montage. If he's punching through the paint, though, I'd be looking for slightly more three-dimensionality at the point of the punch - perhaps some shadows between the paint and the background?

Interesting to see how it turns out.

Welcome home.
