The Dawn of Man
A few months ago I posted a video of my take on the Orion III spaceship joining up with the space station in Stanley Kubrick's film "2001: A Space Odyssey.

For Friday Challenge 738 Steve gave us a photograph of the inside of a cave in the Canary Islands. My immediate idea was to combine a couple of scenes from the early part of of the film. Those two scenes were where the apes were sheltering from predators at night and their later discovery of the Black Monolith. the opening sequence cuts to black for a couple of seconds; keep watching for the rest of the film to pick up a few thousand years later.

When I created my original animation I felt that there was something missing - the beginning. My FC post gave me the inspiration to finish the animation.

If you have never seen 2001 this may not mean anything to you ... and if you have seen the film it might leave you wondering what it is all about. I regard 2001 as Kubrick's best work, go see it.

Well done Gordon... the "beginning" does complete the animation.
