Using PS as an illustration tool
Again using backgrounds found on the internet, I like to produce illustrations of (usually) classic cars, here again is a couple of Jensen ones: This one's style is a bit 'comic book': ![]() While I've gone for a more photorealistic style with this one: ![]() Both these cars are from the 1970s, but I have updated them with my idea of 'retro-modern'. So there isn't any real cars that look quite like this. My stuff is quite often used in print (the second image above was made into a double-page cover spread), so I work at 600dpi in RGB. There can be 20 or more layers, so the file size of the .psd file can be 350-550 mb. At the end, for print use, it is flattened, resaved at 300dpi and CMYK. Then saved as a tiff or PDF depending on where I'm sending it to. One again, I didn't do the backgrounds, but they get quite a bit of work as well. My next stage is my own backgrounds I think. These illustrations take many hours but it a wonderful form of relaxation at the end of a hard day! |

I like this style of work and wish I had the skill to do it. Well done. Nick |

Excellent images, Ocker. I think you should stick with 'real' backgrounds, it gives the images a style of their own. _________________ If you hold on to the past, sooner or later you'll lose your grip. |
