I don't believe it. No-one would stand under a plane coming in like that. |

I believe you that it isn't shopped, but my Photoshop inclined mind seems to always spot things that seem out of place even when it comes to real images, and I'm curious, how come the people are a bit blurry/motion blurred, and the fast moving plane is so still/crisp? Does it have to do with camera settings? Also, why is there no shadow on the ground for the plane whatsoever when it appears that the people are casting light shadows? |

The photograph is actually quite genuine, guys. It was taken on the island of St. Maarten in the Dutch Antilles and there are lots of similar images around. Check out 'Airliners.net' and type St Maarten into their search engine. I seem to remember one of a Boeing 747 that was 'head-on' taken by a verrrrrry brave photographer. The blast from the exhaust of 4 A330 engines at idle as it passes 20 feet overhead is pretty high but from 4 747 engines it's much greater. Another operator is KLM, of course. ![]() Atomicfog - the people are blurred because the photographer would have panned on the aircraft to keep it sharp and the lighting at that particular moment seems to be a little flat so the sun was probably behind one of those lovely, fluffy, Caribbean clouds. _________________ No matter how much you push the envelope, it'll still be stationery. |

The exposure looks odd in the first photo. Shot against a bright sky, the shadow details on the plane are exposed perfectly without blowing out the sky. Also why are the people beyond the plane looking up at the sky in the wrong direction? |

My initial reaction was that Michael must be thinking it's April 1st. I thought surely the end of the glide slope must be hundreds of metres from the point the pic was taken. For fellow doubters like me, please look at the numerous clips on You Tube and you'll see that the end of the runway is just beyond the beach. There is one where a plane is taking off in the same direction and the thrust from the jets is causing turbulence on the water. Amazing! Nick |
