Re: Playing with my camera!
I really like the first image. With the car shots, the ambient light is too overpowering and therefore the effect of the torch is drowned. Try this:- - Lock the camera on a sturdy tripod - Frame the car and focus - Set the camera to around F8 / F11 - Use a maglite to make patterns or merely light an area of the car. About 6 seconds should work. - Check the exposure and adjust lighting technique if necessary. - Take several shots, lighting different areas of the car. - Choose the best exposures and open in PS - Drag all into the same file, so all on different layers. - Change the blend on layer 1 upwards to lighten and you will see the effect being revealed. You can mask layers or change opacity until you achieve the desired effect. This will only work well if the camera does not move between shots. Turn off that porch light! Nick |

Re: Playing with my camera!
Oh and by the way, with the car ones I kinda used the porch lights as the car is meant to be the main subject and the light lines were just there for decoration! I care more about people seeing the car than the lines ![]() |

Sorry to hear that you've got the bum deal on the camera. perhaps you could put a cake on the bonnet and justify borrowing the better gear for an evening. Seriously, if the car is the main subject, then it should be lit to make it that way. What I suggested above will allow lighting to be applied in areas where you want it, rather than show off the garage door, lovely as it is. Why not take the car into a more attractive location, for example a coast road / wood / etc |
