Oculus Rift
Its been a while since I have been here, but I recently saw a few images by Steve and was inspired all over again! (Love the Tony Blair/Gordon Brown hug, and the Top Gear one on the home page!). Steve, I am still inspired by you after first seeing your work over 16 years ago!

I put this together today after the news about Oculus Rift being bought by Facebook. I know the blending isn't quite there for the head, but its a cartoon really, so not terribly photorealistic. I think the light is all wrong on Mr Z's face, so I should have used a different head picture. Also the background blurring isn't quite right. I was pleased with the blender though, I used a hard light setting on the layer to make the Oculus appear inside it, that said I just noticed you can see the handle over it a bit inside. Any constructive criticism welcomed. Is there any way to tone down the light on the face?

Also, I wonder about the legality of using an image of celebrities faces nowadays.

Re: Oculus Rift
That's a really nice idea - and, as you say, it's a cartoon rather than photorealism. I think in this instance the lighting on the head is irrelevant!

The issue of legality is an interesting one. In theory, Zuckenberg could sue over the use of his image, as could whoever took the original photograph of him. But, really, that's most unlikely to happen. I think we're safe.

Good to see you back, Russ!

Thank you for the reply Steve! Glad you like the idea. I'd like to get better at the photorealism side of things so I plan to improve that for other montages.

Just wanted to say thanks for making your videos available on the site to people who have previous versions of the book. I've not upgraded to CC yet and I'm still working with the CS6 book, but the videos are really helpful.
