First Contact
You may not have seen the recent reports of aliens landing in spaceships but I happened to be passing my village green and captured this image.

Extra points to anyone who can identify the (real) flying machine used as the spaceship.

Re: First Contact
What fun! And absolutely no idea as to the origin ........

Re: First Contact
The aircraft in the image is a Bartini Beriev VVA14. It was designed by Italian Robert Bartini and built by the Beriev company in Russia to a Soviet requirement for an anti-submarine aircraft. It uses a particular aerodynamic effect called the 'Wing-in-Ground Effect' enabling it to fly very close to the surface at high speed. The Soviets referred to this kind of aircraft as an 'Ekranoplan'. Unlike many other WIG machines it could climb to a high altitude for more efficient transits to and from an operational area. The original had four turbojet engines with two of them being sited either side of the nose just behind the cockpit. I removed those for better aesthetic reasons.

Only two aircraft were ever built with the machine below being on show in a rather dilapidated state at the Monino Museum east of Moscow.

Re: First Contact
That's a really bizarre plane! I like your montages, too.
