The Bristol Brabazon
Haven't had too much time recently as I have been busy with many different things going on in life.

One of those things is a documentary on the Bristol Brabazon aircraft and what might have been had it not been cancelled. I have produced many images of the aircraft in various airline markings for the film but I thought i would post this image of the one and only Brabazon to have flown. It is shown as it flew in September 1949. The project was cancelled in July 1953 as the lead customer, BOAC, showed no interest with the new age of turbine engines coming along.

The film itself won't be ready for a while but I will post a link when it is ready.

Re: The Bristol Brabazon
Thanks Loyd
Many of the images and videos have been prepared and I have written and recorded the narration. All (?) I have to do now is the actual composition and editing. Will be busy for the next week prior to a trip to France so it will be roughly a month from now before I can make a start on that side of things.

So, if you’re going to hold your breath waiting for it, I would suggest a very deep one 🤣🤣

Also looking forward to the final production Gordon. I'm sure it will be worth the wait.
The images look great.

Its too long ago to remember fine detail, I was only 7 when the family went to Bristol, where he lived, then on to an airfield a short drive from his house to see where my uncle worked. He was an electrical engineer, I remember at his house watching a green screen TV he had made from oscilloscope parts. It was late 1952 and remember he was upset as it seemed the Brabazon had no future.

Thanks for that Ben.
Unfortunately the Brabazon was designed at almost exactly the wrong time. If the war had never happened then the gestation of turbine engines would have been much later. Had it been designed a couple of years later then it would have been powered by either turboprop engines or even jet engines. The issue with that, though, is that it would have been in direct competition with the DH Comet and may still have been cancelled.

The story is, of course, much more complex but in the event it set Bristol on course to be a world leader in aviation.
