Re: On the day before Christmas before there was Christmas
Over 2000 years ago: With Nazareth approximately 89 miles behind them, Joseph and Mary with unborn Jesus, had reached the Shepherd's fields, at the edge of the Judean desert and were about to ascend the last part of their journey, up the hill and into Bethlehem. Is it by chance that Jesus travelled this way. Through the fields that an ancient bloodline of shepherds guarded their flocks all day and night, from peril and harm, as unblemished sacrificial sin offerings to God Almighty, by the high priests in nearby Jerusalem. The sacrificial sheep would be placed in a manger, inspected for any flaws, before being wrapped in swaddling cloth; as to prevent harm befalling the sheep, on the way to the temple. Is it co-incidence, that Jesus was placed in a manger and wrapped in swaddling cloth? The shepherds were heralded to Bethlehem, by a host of angels. Were they going to inspect Jesus? Is it co-incident that 33 years later, Jesus would also be crucified in Jerusalem, as God's lamb; for the sins of mankind?
