Challenge 446: BT phone home
This week's Challenge comes from Ant Snell, who photographed this old Giles Gilbert Scott design K2 phone box looking sad and abandoned by the side of the road.

Can you restore it to its former glory? The hard part here will, I suspect, be glazing those painted-in windows - and deciding on the perspective of the view of the interior.

High res is here.

Re: Challenge 446: BT phone home
I haven't been able to take part recently due to other priorities and unfortunately this week will be the same, but Ant's great image caught my eye.

I have a passion for the Scott phone boxes and thought I'd share a shot I took last summer of a beautifully preserved K2, which sits in Parliament Square. You will see the colour has been 'popped' and a large print hangs in our office wall, where the colour scheme is grey, white, red and black and is London themed.

Steve's link to Wikipedia gives the history of the red box, the result of a competition in 1924. The K2 was introduced in 1926 and their excellent condition shows just how well they were made.

You will see that Ant's image is in fact a K6, introduced in the mid thirties. If you look at the gallery on the Wiki page, the first image contains the same K2 as in my image.

I'm looking forward to seeing the entries this week and apologies for the history lesson.

Nick

Gorgeous!

I remember seeing a programme about the design (and evolution) of the phone box that was surprisingly fascinating

He liked them so much he brought one back from a daring mission in England, hid it in the alley behind Clark Kent's office.

Thankyou Josephine. It's supposed to be summer, but do you see those trees on the far left? I couldn't figure out how to make them look properly green without looking false. Has anyone got any ideas?

Mary Jane makes a nice hash when she cooks them in a pot.

I suggest you chop 'em down and import some specimens of the same size that are in full leaf

Ant was this phone box actually abandoned? A restored and working one could sell for £thousands.

Yes, Josephine, that's got to be the answer.

Re: Challenge 446: BT phone home
This as you can see is the original challenge phonebox--it was time-consuming and fiddly to get perspectives right.
