Challenge 448: Resurrecting Arthur Evans
Arthur Evans was Keeper of the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, from 1884 to 1908, and then Honorary Keeper until his death in 1941.

I was really taken with this portrait, which shows a real man rather than a stylised Roman senator.

It's been a while since we've attempted this on the Forum, but can you breathe life into this marble statue and let us see how Mr Evans would have looked in his prime?

High res is here.

Isn't it funny how we get pigeonholed by our monikers - "Arthur Evans" sounds like he should be the decent down to the earth working class dad from an Ealing comedy - not someone who would wear a bow tie and academic's gown

I am afraid I have turned him into something of a boozehound if his nose is anything to go by

Spooky images especially Emy's last one, well its really weird and as you might know I do weird ! Well done all.... so far

Hope I can submit one later. He's a little like my granddad, but he was maybe better looking all the way into his 90's. His and our noses seem to be going the same way but only straight.

So are you saying that noses run in your family, Trevor?

Me to. Bit difficult to keep up with that........... well done Arwell! I checked your gallery too...... impressive ....

Gordon my granddad's nose a bit similar to mine and it grows when you get older, like the ears He was a great guy. Very quite senior engineer responsible for the bridges on the railways. I loved playing chess with him, but between his nose running I think he let me win.

Maybe its not your nose/ears growing as you age but your head shrinking
