Challenge 461: Bridge of Sighs
I was visiting friends in Cambridge recently, and walked past the famed Bridge of Sighs. It's modelled on the Bridge of Sighs in Venice: can you replace this English street with an appropriate canal scene? EDIT: Mariner has thoughtfully provided me with the following message:
He's absolutely right, of course. I have friends in both places. Well spotted! High res is here. ![]() |

Partial extension of Oxford Canal. Cul-de-sac at present ![]() ![]() Note for those that don't know, or vaguely, the Navigators with support from business entrepreneurs built a large network of narrow boat canal connections which was critical to UK industrial revolution. Bulk no problem. Now it is a heritage to enjoy at leisurely pace with many supporting and restoring. The trains came next...., but the builders were still called Navi's. They did the back breaking work ...pick, shovel and wheelbarrow, in all weathers.. |

So excuse me again going into drifts ![]() I'm sharing some of The Great Wave off Kanagawa, Hokusai's most famous print, the first in the series 36 Views of Mount Fuji. I painted/copied for my sister. Enjoyed that and seemed to become very authentic (?). I love it. ![]() |

Yippee, it's summer at last!! So less Challenge time, but more photo improving time. This picture shows a canal in Utrecht, and happily they're still there: http://www.bezoek-utrecht.nl/en/event/oudegracht-wharfs Oops, made an upload misstake. |

James......good entry - but - if the bike is reflected in the water I'm thinking the people should be, too...??? _________________ "Imagination, not invention, is the supreme master of art........" Joseph Conrad |
