Challenge 464: Street scene
I photographed another of the many splendid models in the London Transport Museum on my recent visit - and, once again, apologies for only having my iPhone camera with me. I promise to take a real SLR next time.

This one shows a period street. What would it take to bring this scene to life?

High res is here.

Once again work is interfering with proper life but I hope to post something a little closer to the deadline - this one is deceptively tricky.

Very interesting and well constructed images in my opinion.
Only comment on last: Linda that looks a bit surreal, worrying but like it. That must be a HK tram(?)

(PS I'm traveling again so not sure can make it this week or next).

Re: Challenge 464: Street scene
First onto the street this week was Ant Snell, with a splendid composition that adds a good range of new houses to the street, as well as adding texture and windows to the existing house. My only problem here is with the red car, which seems to be bending around a corner; this kind of object presents a really tricky distortion. Much quicker to find a car from the right angle!

I like the way Garfield72 has moved the action to the countryside, with the house standing alone against a rural background. That coal wagon has got a lot of plodding to do, if the houses are so spaced apart! I especially like the new windows, and the extended road to the right. And yes, the second entry does work rather better. I also like the storm in the third entry - but we could see details like the reflections much better if it wasn't on the laptop screen!

An eerie night view from tooquilos, with great pools of light beneath the lamps. But while I like the overall blue cast, shouldn't the light from the lamps and the window be yellow in contrast? Terrific sense of passing time in the animated version - I really like the rain at the end, and then the coming dawn. Excellent.

An artful construction from maiden, with a fine new building and a great sky behind. It's the added foliage that makes this work for me, though. Good to see you taking part again, Becky!

I like the way Linda Eckert has shown the change of the woman and the bus - with a good set of hands reaching in to do it. A terrific angle on the new bus - it fits perfectly! Perhaps an overhead cable needed, though?

A great fantasy image from Ben Mills, with galloping horses and a rather fetishised gun-toting Lara Croft figure on the upper deck. The other passengers don't seem to have noticed, though!

A really clever image from marlcliff, with the iPhone view showing the street with added sky and a new cast of characters. A very neat idea! Just one detail: the text at the top of the iPhone screen is backwards. D'oh! Very sad to hear of your diagnosis, Phill, but as you say, Photoshop will keep your mind active.

I like the way Ben Boardman has extended the street with more model characters - even if a few of them do seem a little two-dimensional. There's a slight perspective issue with that grey building: draw vanishing point lines through the existing one and you'll find it much easier to get these things to line up.

I like seeing the house featuring as part of Emu's board game - but is that really what Monopoly boards look like now? With skyscrapers? And what are those room settings in the middle? Interesting new version!

A rather moving image from Mariner, showing the industrialisation of the town. A beautifully remodelled house, with new brickwork and splendid reflecting windows, plus new horses for the coal cart and the bus. It's the removal of most of the people that makes this such a stark image: a very haunting montage altogether. Very nice work.

A spring morning from joeysala, with a pretty new blue building and some cherry blossom in the rather vast tree behind. I like the added people here, and the new windows - and all that extra foliage brings the street to life.

Good work all round, with some really lively entries.
