Challenge 744: The house that got left behind
I've been unable to unearth the history of this extraordinary house in Norwich. It's clearly Tudor, and can't have been built later than 1580 or so; but how it came to be abandoned in a car park, and towered over by an ugly brick monstrosity next door, is a mystery to me. Can you find some more appropriate surroundings for this fine dwelling? High res is here. ![]() |

Yes we have something similar here in Brussels too. Oddities of conservation law. ![]() _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

WARNING: Extreme kitsch alert!! Re: Challenge 744: The house that got left behind
Did you create the camera move yourself on a still frame or have you inserted the building into a moving shot - because, if so, the 'pinning' is absolutely perfect! _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 744: The house that got left behind
My skill level for "perfect pinning" is non-existent, it's a still frame with the camera move, coloring, and 'scratches' added in an attempt to give it an 'old home movie' 8mm look. I like to fool around with these camera effects, but it takes a lot of frames to give it any kind of smoothness. This gif animation was originally 150 frames @ 15fps and 35MB (200+ is better) culled down to 90 frames @ 11fps (23.61MB) for this entry. This is the original photo (not an entry) used in the animation: ![]() |

How bizarre. Interestingly the creator says "Even my wife thinks I am slightly mad ....... ". Hmmm ..... could she just be right? Btw wonderful job matching perspectives. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re:Challenge 744;The house that got left behind
I know this is not strictly on topic , but I had to post this photograph of the smallest church in the U.K at Rhos-on-Sea, North Wales. This church is not the original as that was built 1.500 years ago !! It was built on top of a spring and even now it still is used as a well , there are communion services held a number of times throughout the year ,the church only holds six people. My wife and myself visited it a few years ago and I have an interior photo which I could post when I find it. Regards from Neale. ![]() |

Interesting... I did a Google image search for "smallest church in the U.K" and got lots of good photographs. Thanks. |
