Challenge 772: Build me a moat
The charming French town of Surgères has splendid 16h century ramparts, which enclose a Norman church and other buildings.

Originally, of course, there would have been a moat beneath that drawbridge. Can you put it back in?

High res is here.

I wasn't going to do anything this week as I'm too busy sorting things out before I go on my hols but this idea popped into my head and I just had to do it. Sorry about the lo-res opening title but i didn't have time to recreate it in a higher res.

This year is the 50th anniversary of Monty Python's Flying Circus and this piece features probably one of the greatest songs (IMHO) ever written. I hope it brings a smile to your faces.

Well Michael, has there ever been a better time to bring back Napoleon and his army?

Frank. Deceptively simple looking (which I suspect it wasn't) and very satisfying.

Loyd, the first is much stronger narrative.

I couldn't agree more David, I simply wanted to do one with the drawbridge raised.

Michael, you shouldn't encourage me, now I'm in trouble with the site owner

The first image is the original Scots Guards charge painting, and the second image is my animated version complete with new sky and new foreground, but keeping to the original as much as possible

UPDATED for more horse movement

By the way I forgot to ask. How did you achieve the perfectly matched drawbridge extension? Did you manage to find something close enough to be 'tweakable' or did you create it yourself.

Re: Challenge 772: Build me a moat
Just a very lucky find David, it was one of two that fit nicely with what I wanted to achieve during my first image search. As you can see 'tweaking' was minimal.

I thought about using the brickwork, but I then decided that it was too far removed from the original stone structure.
