Challenge 1079: A little unstable
The London Canal Museum, in King's Cross, tells the story of the canal network through models and images. Upstairs, there's a mockup of a stable in the section relating to horse-drawn river craft. It's a small room, and I couldn't find a vantage point where I could photograph it clearly. But given the restrictions, can you place these elements in a more convincing environment? High res is here.  |

When I was about 6 my grandma took me for walks along the canal in Bath so I could feed the horses. |

Ben, you are welcom, anything I can do to help. Everyone: I am currently working to change that ugly, miserable looking, plastic horse into something a bit more realistic. |

Desperate to find any way to give a bit of life to this really sad lacklustre exhibit, I suddenly remembered SINA (The Society for Indecency to Naked Animals). Maybe some of you remember them too? They were active from 1959 to 1963 and campaigned on the basis that animal nudity was ruinous to American morals and that animals 'privates' should be clothed. For a few years they acquired a huge following. The cuttings and slogan shown here are all quite real. In reality SINA was a hoax, a prank, created by a known prankster Alan Abel. Their president G. Clifford Prout (in reality the comedian Buck Henry) appeared on many talkshows promoting the movement. Eventually he was recognised by some crew members when he was interviewed by Walter Cronkite in his show for CBS. When he discovered he had been hoaxed Cronkite was so furious he had the tapes of the show erased.
