A very restrained set of entries from all of you this week, with one or two exceptions, with some good solid Photoshop work showing what you can do. Great sets of traditional beans from maiden, Russ, Trinity, MJ and Tabitha – who was the only one to remember the tomato sauce (and great sauce it was too, Tabitha, are we looking at Plastic Wrap here?). Good gags from maiden (great perspective blur on the note, there, and some fine crumpling) and Russ - although I doubt you'd get a job on the Express as a headline writer. Your biggest problem, though, is the Heinz label, which looks like it's pasted on a flat surface. Don't you think Shear would have really helped this one? Tabitha got the curve just right on her entry. Just when I thought we'd get through a week without me making a guest appearance - after all, how could I appear in a jar of beans? - Trinity weighs in with a good approach to an impossible perspective. The shadows really help there, making the awkward angle of view more plausible. A few perspective problems in Sphere's entry - the jar's at a really tricky angle like that. The solution would have been to imagine we're looking up at it, rather than down, which would have been tricky but quite possible. And the poem could have done with a bit of a Shear or Wave to make it adhere to the contours of the mountain! Still, Sphere's Wallace Stevens poem does compare favourably with the one MJ came up with... Nice takes on the issue from tweaknik (I think those eggs are going to haunt us!) and Droo31k - it's surprising how elliptical beans can look so much like round M&Ms seen from an angle. Both of you need to watch your perspective, though! I really, really must address this in the next edition! |
