James, sometimes, I'm almost hesitant to view your posts. I just don't know if I'll be in the mood to laugh so much or not. Great job... |

Haven't been able to play for a few weeks, due to work, but still had time to see what has been happening. So much talent here, and so varied. James and Anna, your animations never cease to amaze me, and make me laugh. Wrong Way or Have computers taken over our lives? ![]() |

Michael, I think your fellow is trying to fly with out the benefit of a plane. I think he needs a few feathers, and a bit of a breeze. ![]() |

Re: Contest 211: Lost weekend
Looks like David was rather late posting the new Challenge last week - and so he got his comeuppance from Gordon, in true Friday Challenge style. First to switch on the GPS, however, was Nick Curtain, who has me launched into outer space in search of my home... am I an alien? Or do I live on the satellite? GKB has chosen's David lateness as his theme, with a multinational bedding set (nice rippling, there) and what looks like Damien Hirst wallpaper. The couple of bottles of Vino could explain the oversleeping - despite the cunningly reworked alarm clock! High drama from brewell, with a dinosaur leaping from the bushes - and neatly indicated by a red dot on the map. I think I'd have buried its legs in the foliage a little more, which would have given a stronger sense of it coming out of hiding. The zoom blur works perfectly - a great addition. But I'm not sure the tighter crop in the second entry is an improvement: shame to lose the top of the head, and the bulk of the hand. A salutary tale from Ben Mills, with the GPS unit buried amongst the car wreckage. But is it perhaps too low contrast for the brightness of the day? Very funny and subtle work from dikidee, whose flock may have lost Bo Peep but will certainly find their way home. Good idea! Much tinkering of the original from Neil O - and a lot of time has been sent rearranging letters and numbers, as well as adding a stair climber and replacing the car icon. All done with great attention to detail, of course. I'm trying to figure out the reflection in the mirror in dave.cox's entry, but I just cant read it right. I like the closed-off road, which has a turn that matches the map on the SatNav: and the wiper streaks on the glass are a subtle addition. Not sure the mirror should have a shadow, though - where would this be cast from? On what surface? An interesting stagnav from mguyer, with the GPS neatly hung on a fine set of antlers. It needs to show a direction, though! A new member this week - and Lilah has given us a school sports day, with the runner nicely replacing the car icon on the GPS device. The head bracket is a good idea, but you need to brighten and add contrast to the device to make it match the brightness of the day. Welcome to the forum, Michelle! An ancient Roman setting from tooquilos, with a splendid animation in which everything is adjusted: the street names, the measurement units, and the hourglass. I like the way the direction indicator changes as the car drives around the streets, and the Coliseum icon is a nice touch - but are you sure you've got the Eiffel Tower in the right city??? Looks like vibeke was driving around France at much the same time that I was! And had the same trouble with the GPS trying to lead us down streets clearly too narrow for motorized traffic. I can see your problem, though: the SatNav thinks you're in England. Nice reflections in the windscreen! A complex, detailed and wonderful animation from james this week, with James Bond plunging to his doom as his SatNav leads him wildly astray. I particularly like the way the car crashes off the road, and Bond's eyes following the shark are priceless. Wonderful! A highly futuristic car from Deborah Morley - and great horror from the driver, who - despite having no seat - has found his way into a SuperMario game. A great idea, Deborah! A nicely retro experience from Ellen, with good old Route 66 popping up on the SatNav - and it's neatly tucked behind the steering wheel. Subtle stuff! High drama from michael sinclair, whose car is just escaping the close-up plane behind - neatly tucked into the shadow, too. But are you sure it's the pilot who should be directing the plane? Or is he trying to take off? Top marks for making the shadow match the flapping arms! Another plane scene from katew, whose SatNav thoughtfully tells us to stop at this point. What? Do we have to walk up those steps?? Very funny work this week. Good stuff! |

Neither Steve, the GPS unit has taken you to its home, the satellite, which tells it what to do. Shall I steer away from humour? Nick |

Re: Contest 211: Lost weekend
Thanks Steve. It is Damien Hirst's wallpaper. The post is actually a reworked version of an earlier Friday Challenge when I had Tracey Emin in the bed. Lack of time precluded a 'proper' entry this week. David, my apologies again; couldn't resist it! Gordon _________________ Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana. |

Thank you Steve. The Eiffel Tower was there on purpose. I was hoping to reflect a National Lampoon European style vacation. And Im not sure if you picked up or not..but that is you driving in the car with your family, knocking over the Tower ![]() |

Ha, Ha. After reading your comment, I see what you mean about the reflection. It kind of looks like a strange head with a blob nose. That is actually the top of the seat belt attached to the post above the door. The "nose" is where the seat belt swivel is attached to the post. I see what you mean about the reflection though. I should have left that off. Dave. ![]() |

Hopefully our house is still standing after 150km winds last month. |
