Some great and some a bit weird entries! Very little time to contribute this week ![]() Just to confuse(?), horizontal parallell shift about 17 degrees. Maybe an entrance from Europe into lost Hutong. ![]() (Hope, but doubt can fix a couple of issues ![]() |

Re: Challenge 266: Open house
Amazing what can be got out of a rather boring door and window! A fantastic entry from brewell that really tells a story - and what a bizarre story this is. Great angle on the opened door, with plenty of good details - the reflections in the widow, the carpet, the shadow of the window frame on the man. Just couple of minor points: the woman's hair is just too crisp (a touch of smudging would help here); and the shadow of the frame shouldn't cross the shadow of the man's arm. Just the one shadow needed! A glorious fantasy from horonggo, with a great open door and a better view inside than out. I like the horse - but the shadow inside the door should not be on the landscape! A beautifully constructed scene from tooquilos, with so much detail: the plaque outside, the umbrella, the wind chimes, the translucent curtains, the window box, the well opened door, the new grass... only the Welcome mat is at a slightly odd angle. Love the animation - but watch out for the shadow the boy leaves on the mat (or is he just wiping his feet?). Congratulations on grandmotherhood, Anna! I'm sure this is one baby we'll get to know pretty well... A touch of genius from China, who has turned the whole view around and shown the room from the inside. A fantastic job, it shows tremendous imagination and skill. Look at the view across the street, built from the reflection in the original window. But what is that dark patch at the bottom of the wall? Is something missing? I like the surrealism of the second entry, as well - but I'd like to see the tip of the finger coming through the window. And a truly bizarre third entry - only the door remains! Meticulous work from Nick Curtain: the curtains, the window reflections, the number, the cat, the open door and the subtle shadows are immaculate. I defy anyone to look at this image and be sure it's a montage! Beautiful. A spooky view from Jonvee Leo, with an image full of occult goings-on (but no black cat?). I like the graffiti sprayed onto the walls, and the candles are a good idea - but shouldn't they, you know, cast some light on the interior? A belated Beatles tribute from Josephine Harvatt - now that's one crowded house! I like the replanting of the flower bed, a nice touch. But is the drum face painted onto the wall? A plaque, surely? A "typical" street scene from katew - and what a packed scene this is! I was particularly taken by the dim police woman, the woman about to stab her husband, and the subtle way the angle of the reflection changes on the open window (now that's classy). Excellent work, Kate! An interesting view from BigVern, with last week's Challenge reflected in the window. A secret hotel, indeed: you'd never guess at the interior of this one. Good perspective matching through the door: but I think the horizon's a little low in the scene through the window. A tropical paradise from vibeke, complete with sandy beach, a rather magnificent plant, and an especially find thatched porch. Great lighting through and on the door, and the window reflection completes the scene nicely. There's a great warm, welcoming feel to this house. A dark scene, in every sense, from maiden this week. A curious scene, and it's hard to read exactly what's going on here. But I certainly agree with you - the wallpaper really is terrible! A great opened window, though, with a very fine profile and latch. A charming Hansel and Gretel entry from Chiro - but this witch certainly lives in a house to be avoided. Excellent use of candy sticks and chocolate bars, and the neon sign is a real bonus. Love the candy floss (cotton candy?) grass! Funny work from Ben Mills - but with a well opened door, and great reflections on the window. Watch the angles in that kitchen, and on the ceiling line in the hall: there are enough clues in the brickwork to show you exactly how the perspective should go! And isn't it odd that the bike casts such a strong shadow, but the porch above doesn't? Not just an interior, but a view right through the house to the garden beyond from james - a touch more perspective needed on the open window, perhaps, and I question your taste in wallpaper. But there's so much action in the second entry - particularly from the cat, who jumps around the place like crazy. Fantastic movement! A tastefully opened door from mguyer, who has also knocked out a couple of panels at the top of the door. And is that Marty Jr Jr in the doorway? A new door frame and an altogether exterior interior from Jota120. It's the angle of view that bothers me here: the right wall should surely follow the angle of the exterior wall? Although this might have been tricky to arrange... The new owners of LonnieK's house clearly have ambitions above their means. It's a fantastic interior, and the reflection of the door subtly matches that of the fireplace inside. Great reflections in the window, too: a very appealing house altogether. A very interesting idea from Deborah Morley - done with such a light touch that we have to look hard to realise this is the same person four times. Is it someone you know, Deborah? If not, where did you track down so many images of him? Great flower bed, and a very neat plaque. A curiously washed-out scene from Emil: why the low contrast? It looks almost as if the air is full of smoke. A couple of great Poser figures telling a sad story here, the roses adding a particularly poignant finale. An emotional and powerful piece of work, Emil. A completely rebuilt house from gaoxiguo, who seems to have imported the door and window to a building in China. And that's a very impressive interior! Good work opening the doors and windows this week - if I haven't commented on them all individually, it's because they were so convincing I didn't notice them. |

Thanks Steve, I was on holiday in Fiji, so the beach house seemed a good idea. _________________ Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize. |
