MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL!

May your 2010 be wonderful and may mine settle down a bit so that I can do some photoshopping.

Work has become so manic recently that I have not had the chance to take part in the challenges.

Thanks once again to Steve for his inspiration, encouragement and patience in helping to make us better digital cheaters.

Vern

According to Urban Dictionary, it means I Agree With This Post.

Either that, or I Am Wearing Tight Pants. Hard to tell which from Josephine's new avatar.

If you can't "bear" the heat step away from the barbecue.

Wonderful images and humour all. Impressed, this one was difficult, for the reasons you gave. I tried with a few hours left, but a 3 x mess came out, tried to do something different, sorry, so cannot contribute this time. I was travelling to much last few days, or distracted...

To ALL have a great Christmas/Holidays and 2010 New Year with friends and loved ones, peace....calm 安静

Trevor

PS I know what IAWTP is in the second version from Steve it is while trying to cycle in the snow, on a bike that is too big on the ice and snow while wearing my sisters waterproofs to keep the rain and snow out, "tight(s)", maybe better to crash and get wet?! But at least we found a very nice little country pub with a log fire on her route 24.

Exercise good for the heart, body and mind.

Merry Christmas to all, I'm trying to finish this weeks challenge, but as you can see, I'm having far too much fun in Phuket. Also I really need my Christmas present (a Wacom Bamboo), but I won't get that till tonight.

Vibeke, I don't think you've ever posted a picture with the weather nothing less than perfect. I'm so jealous!

Thanks Michael and merry xmas to all.

I had to look up IAWTP too and being picky didn't follow why it's not referring to 'that' post. Use of 'this' implies that the comment is referring to the responding post we are making. We have such a beautiful language and it's a shame we seem to have fallen into the acronym pit head first!

Re: Challenge 280: Global warming
Well, this was certainly a trick one. Instructive, though, and some interesting approaches.

First to melt the ice was Josephine Harvatt, with a skeleton from exactly the right angle delicately poking through the ice - and glimpses of the rest inside. But would the ice melt as patchily as that? An effective treatment, nonetheless.

A strong image from tooquilos, with a new block of ice complete with skeleton - and a new view of the National Gallery behind. An innovative approach! A good melting process in the animated version - and that plaintive version of Auld Lang Syne is very moving!

A clever take from Nick Curtain - the melted ice is particularly nicely drawn. But - ouch! That lolly stick has got to hurt!

Effective melting from brewell - and as you say, the hard part was patching the background. And very effective job you've made of it, Bruce: A thoroughly convincing image altogether. Good work!

A clever twist from maiden - amazing that you managed to find a shot of a polar bear from exactly the right angle! And I like the chilly treatment on the background. Nice work.

I think this is the first time the world has seen an animated polar bear skeleton - and james has brought it to life with great flair. Not sure about the base melting along with the ice, but the idea works anyway! I like the added interest in the second entry - the boy gives it a good sense of scale.

A rather nicely drawn ice bear from michael sinclair, who, in typical Michael fashion, has done the precise opposite of what I asked for. Still, it's a strong piece of work - great texture on that icy fur. I just love Plastic Wrap. And a cute lolly in the second entry.

Beautiful work from LonnieK , with a skeleton poking through the top of the ice bear, and more of it visible through the ice. Very well worked out, a highly convincing effect. Great work.

I like the way Deborah Morley's skeleton (as it were) is just poking through the top of the ice... the streaks around the vertebrae are particularly convincing here. And you've managed to keep the original background, too, seamlessly patched. An utterly realistic job - well done!

A pristine white skeleton from Gerard emerging from the ice - is it a little small for the bear, though? Patching the background seems to have been something of a problem for you: there's a shake on the building that wasn't there before!

A rather different approach from jwhite, whose ecological conscience clearly doesn't get in the way of a good barbecue. Not a lot of meat there, for such a big bear... and who are those rather bizarre looking people behind?

No polar bears in vibeke's photograph... but that's hardly the sort of weather we're getting here in Europe! A new Wacom tablet and summer on the beach? You're certainly spoiled in NZ!

Thanks Steve, but where else would I have placed the lolly stick?!

Thanks for another fun year and for all your hard work writing up on our work.

I hope you and the family have a great Xmas.

Nick

Thank you Steve. I also felt that Auld Lang syne was an appropriate piece for the season and the cause. Enjoy your holiday!
