Re: Challenge 311: In concert
Some very good tracking down of appropriate Diana Krall concert imagery this week - and some excellent lighting effects. First onto the stage was Josephine Harvatt, with a picture of her in concert taken from exactly the right angle - and matching the background curtains has been beautifully done. The big screen is an excellent idea. Maybe turn the lights on, though? The full band from Ben Mills, with rather garish lighting and a good stage presence. I like the stars, but not sure about the ring of lights around the top of the stage - the colours look a rather unlikely mix to me. Very neat fitting from brewell, with a very nicely-lit stage. I particularly like the screaming kid in the row in front - a good touch! The band in Vibeke's picture is the band I saw her with - although they do seem to have put on weight, and indeed height, since I saw them. Watch your scale! You can see people standing up in the front row of the audience - the band shouldn't be bigger than them. A terrific sky, though, and subtle lighting. Very dramatic lighting from Nick Curtain, with crossing beams from all the spotlights: are the beams just too distinct, though? I especially like the subtle way in which the interior of the shell is lit. Very atmospheric. The stage is set in tooquilos's entry. An interesting approach to the lighting: blue, green and white lights producing red curtains. Hmm. Of course, the real drama is in the animated version - where the lights come to life, and the curtains swing open to reveal the cinematic action inside. If the dancing had all been in the distance, this would have made a convincing stage show - but as it is, it works well as a movie. High drama from LonnieK, with a stormy scene outside and powerful lighting inside. Too many colours in your spotlights, though - they do tend to concentrate on a few at a time. I like the fireworks in Stefano Giacomuzzi's entry, and especially the name projection onto the curtain - nicely achieved. The stage seems rather dark to me: perhaps you could turn on a few more spotlights? A great showing from james, with what looks from a distance like The Beatles as the backing band - cool! I really like the action in the animated version, with great dancing from all the characters. Why the pause at the end, though? Surely this is one that should just keep rolling. Fantastic lighting from Emil, which places a dazzling brightness on the band, giving them a relly luminous quality. I like the restrained use of colour, and the extreme darkening of the rest of the scene. Good work, everyone. |
